When is the election?

  • The City Primary Election is February 27, 2007
  • The City General Election is March 27, 2007
How does the city council election work?

  • There can be any number of candidates in the primary. The two candidates with the highest number of votes advance to the general for a runoff.

How do I know if I'm registered?

If your information does not appear, call the Kansas City Election Board at 816-842-4820 for assistance.

How do I register?

  • The easiest way to register is to visit your neighborhood library or the Kansas City Election Board at 1828 Walnut Street in Kansas City, Missouri. There are other sites available for walk-in registration.  For a complete list of these sites, please click here.
  • To register by mail, click  here and a form will open if you have Adobe Acrobat Reader installed. Once you have printed the form, sign and mail to:

    Once the election board has received your registration, you will be notified by mail of how to complete the registration process.

How do I get an absentee ballot?

   You can get an absentee ballot if you meet one of the following qualifications:

  • Will be absent from your voting jurisdiction on election day.
  • Are incapacitated or confined due to illness or physical disability, or caring for an incapacitated person.
  • Are restricted by religious belief or practice.
  • Are employed by an election authority.
  • Are incarcerated, but have retained all your voting qualifications.
